How to check the WordPress version, Know your WordPress version.
Today we’re going to show you How to check your WordPress version, how to check
the version of WordPress you’re using
including on sites that you don’t have
admin access to this may be useful for
debugging issues or checking
compatibility with plugins so let’s hop
right into it.
Steps to check the WordPress version
When we’re on our
WordPress dashboard logged in and you
can see on the bottom right if you just
scroll down the row press version is
listed there, so we’re using five-point
two point two it’s also listed in the
add a glance area this is the
the easiest way to find what version of
WordPress you’re using but if you don’t
have access to a WordPress site we’re
going to show you how to do that.
What will you do if you don’t have admin access?
So if you want to check the WordPress version
of a site that you don’t have admin
access to it’s simple
this may be useful for seeing what
a competitor is using or debugging issues
right now we’re logged out on a clean
site so all we’re going to do it right
click and do show page source
we’re in Safari, but it’s very similar in
Chrome you can just right click and hit
view page source and you can see here
this is the source code down here and
let’s bring this up and then we’re going to
control F, and we’re going to find on
the page generator and you can see here
there’s actually a meta tag that shows
what version of WordPress is used to
generate the page. I will note a lot of
WordPress security plugins disable this
so if you don’t see it on the page
that’s most likely why and it’s as easy
as that
checking the WordPress version of just
about any site even if you’re logged in
or not, now if these techniques didn’t work
there’s some more listed in the blog
post and if those don’t work then most likely
the site has excellent security and
they’re not going to let you see what
WordPress version you’re using and you
will need to log in to see the WordPress
version and thanks again for watching
have a great day.
